Touchdown Club of Southern New Jersey Honors 2023 Unsung Heroes

The Dr. Warren J. McClain Touchdown Club of Southern New Jersey held its annual Unsung Heroes banquet the night of October 17, 2023 at Adelphia Restaurant in Deptford.

Unsung Heroes from 24 South Jersey high school football programs were honored by the club for dinner and a celebration of contributions to their respective football programs.

Each coach provided a message about their Unsung Hero that was read aloud at the banquet. Plaques were also given to the honorees.

The guest speaker was Deptford Township Sargeant Sean Gambale. He spoke about the memory of fallen officer, Bobby Shisler. Officer Shisler was shot in the line of duty last March and died in May due to injuries sustained in that shooting. Sargeant Gambale explained the role of an Unsung Hero in the community and Officer Shisler’s background as a former high school football player. He also saluted those who continue to serve that role in the wake of Officer Shisler’s death.
